Pentecost continues through the summer and fall. We celebrate 20 weeks in the Season of Pentecost, also known as Ordinary Time. Holy Spirit infuses this season with infinite gifts. These gifts transform personal lives and rebuild creation itself. We see Spirit working in our community right now.
Seeing God's grandeur in creation
Poet Gerard Manley Hopkins describes divine energy in his work "God’s Grandeur":
"The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like shining from shook foil ... And for all this, nature is never spent; There lives the dearest freshness deep down things ... Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs — Because the Holy Ghost over the bent World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings."
God charges creation with fresh life. Spirit broods over our world with warmth and protection.
Receiving the summer blessing
This summer, may God charge you with divine grandeur and grace.
